Introduction to Computer Aided Design (CAD) is an entry level workshop open to anyone interested in learning how to work with open source CAD software. Participants will be introduced to 2D and 3D computational design techniques and best practices when designing for fabrication. Projects will be fabricated using a variety of materials including mat board, cardboard, wood, acrylic, and ABS/PLA/Nylon. By the end of this workshop participants will have a working understanding of CAD and fabrication using the Epilog Laser Cutter or 3D Printer. This workshop is part of the Computational Design and Fabrication series. No prior experience is necessary.
It is recommended that participants bring a laptop running a recent version of Windows, OSX, or Linux. Groups can also be formed to share resources. inworks has a few workstations available in the event someone doesn’t have a computer.
